Documents Required

Mandatory Documents

Visa Application

• Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
• One recent passport-size photograph (not older than 6 months, clear, undamaged, and light background)
• Original passport and copy (must be issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay, and with at least 2 blank pages)

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code
• Valid for at least 1 month beyond your exit from the Schengen area

Proof of Travel

• Confirmed travel bookings showing your name and travel dates
  • Air: flight booking
  • Rail: train tickets
  • Car: ferry booking, driver’s licence, and vehicle insurance
• Return or onward travel confirmation

Proof of Finance

• UK bank statements (dated within 7 days, covering the last 3 months)
  • Must show your name, account number, and current balance
  • Online statements are accepted if account holder details are visible
• If sponsored by a third party:
  • Sponsor’s bank statements (3 months)
  • Sponsor’s employment letter
  • Signed support declaration with travel dates
  • Copy of sponsor’s passport
  • Proof of relationship (e.g. marriage or birth certificate)

Travel Insurance

• Policy covering all Schengen states and entire duration of stay
• Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies and repatriation
• Must mention applicant’s full name and date of birth
• Issued by a UK or Schengen-based insurer
• If provided by your bank, include a recent confirmation letter (within 30 days)

Business Visa-Specific Documents

Business Invitation

• Letter from the Swiss company (dated within 30 days), on official letterhead
  • Must state purpose of visit, exact dates of stay, and who will bear the travel expenses

Proof of Status in the UK

If Employed

• Letter of employment (dated within 7 days) including:
  • Company letterhead
  • Signature (wet or electronic)
  • Applicant’s name, address, job title, and employment start date
  • Business travel dates and funding responsibility

If Self-Employed

• Letter from accountant, banker, or solicitor (dated within 7 days) including:
  • Signature (wet or electronic)
  • Applicant’s name and address
  • Nature of self-employment or business
  • Business bank statement (past 3 months)
  • HMRC self-assessment document

Photo Specifications

• Must be recent (within 6 months)
• Size: 35–40 mm wide with face covering 70–80% of the image
• Sharp, clear, and in focus, with no marks, creases, or blurring
• Printed on high-quality photo paper (digital prints accepted if high resolution)

Style and Lighting

• Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, and looking directly at the camera
• Taken against a plain, light-coloured background with no shadows or reflections
• Natural skin tones with balanced brightness and contrast

Glasses and Head Coverings

• Glasses: no tinted lenses or flash reflections; frames must not cover eyes
• Head coverings allowed only for religious reasons, but the full face must be visible

If the submitted photograph does not meet these specifications, the application will be deemed incomplete and the applicant will be required to provide a compliant photo before the application can proceed.
