Documents Required

Mandatory Documents

Visa Application Form

• One completed and signed application form.

Photograph

• One recent passport-size photo (see Photo Specifications section).

Passport

• Original passport issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months after the end of your intended stay, with two blank visa pages.
• Include a clear copy of the passport’s data and signature pages.

UK Residency

• UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Travel Insurance

• Confirmation or coversheet showing:
  • Full name and date of birth
  • Coverage for all Schengen countries
  • Validity for the full travel period
  • Minimum cover of €30,000 for medical and repatriation
  • Must be issued by a UK or Schengen-based insurer
  • If covered by your bank, provide a letter dated within 30 days confirming all details above

Proof of Finance

• UK bank statements dated within 7 days of submission, covering at least the last 3 months
• Must include account holder name and account details
• Online statements accepted if complete

If financially supported by a sponsor:

• Sponsor’s recent bank statements
• Employment letter of sponsor
• Signed declaration of financial support including travel dates
• Copy of sponsor’s passport
• Proof of relationship (e.g. birth or marriage certificate)

Proof of Travel

• Confirmed travel bookings with applicant’s name and booking reference
• If travelling by car: include ferry booking, driving licence, and vehicle insurance
• Return ticket to the UK or onward journey confirmed

Tourist Visa – Additional Documents

Proof of Accommodation

• Confirmed hotel booking or package tour confirmation with applicant’s name
• If travelling across Schengen countries, provide complete accommodation and transport itinerary

Employment / Status in the UK

• Employed:
  • Employer letter dated within 7 days, with letterhead, signature, position, and employment details
  • Last 3 months’ payslips
• Self-employed:
  • Letter from accountant, banker, or solicitor (dated within 7 days) confirming nature of business and registration
  • 3 months’ business bank statements
  • Latest HMRC self-assessment form
• Students:
  • Recent enrolment letter from institution (dated within 7 days), stating course name, term address, and duration
• Others (benefits or pension):
  • Official letter dated within 30 days

Visiting Family or Friends – Additional Documents

Invitation Letter

• Dated within 30 days
• Written in an official Swiss language or English
• Must include:
  • Declaration of invitation
  • Full contact details and nationality of host and applicant
  • Exact travel dates

Proof of Host Identity

• Copy of host’s passport (photo and signature pages)
• If not Swiss: copy of valid Swiss residence permit covering applicant’s intended stay
• If extension is pending: proof of application or approval

If host works for an international organisation:

• Copy of Carte de Légitimation (both sides)
• Letter from employer dated and signed

For Minors (if applicable)

• Visa application signed by both parents
• Birth certificate
• Recent school confirmation letter (UK-based)
• Consent letter from both parents with passport copies
• If sole custody applies: supporting legal documents (e.g. death certificate, custody order)

Photo Specifications

• Must be recent (within 6 months)
• Size: 35–40 mm wide with face covering 70–80% of the image
• Sharp, clear, and in focus, with no marks, creases, or blurring
• Printed on high-quality photo paper (digital prints accepted if high resolution)

Style and Lighting

• Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, and looking directly at the camera
• Taken against a plain, light-coloured background with no shadows or reflections
• Natural skin tones with balanced brightness and contrast

Glasses and Head Coverings

• Glasses: no tinted lenses or flash reflections; frames must not cover eyes
• Head coverings allowed only for religious reasons, but the full face must be visible

If the submitted photograph does not meet these specifications, the application will be deemed incomplete and the applicant will be required to provide a compliant photo before the application can proceed.
